Satellite view of start point : Please note that the grid reference is usually a walk leader's visual estimate. If correct, it will be accurate to 100m. Bing and Google use a different projection from the Ordnance Survey, so the reference is converted, which can add to any inaccuracy. Walk leaders have been invited to supply verbal descriptions of the start point, and when provided, this should be more accurate than the satellite view. |
|
Walk leader's directions to start/advance notes: Castle Howard forms the backdrop to this walk which goes through lanes, fields and wooded hills to Terrington. This area has been officially designated An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The walk starts from the free car park at Coneysthorpe crossroads.
From Malton follow the brown signs for Castle Howard. Drive straight
through the village of Coneysthorpe until you reach the crossroads.
Turn left at the crossroads and the car park is on the right behind the
gatehouse cottage. The lake and Castle Howard can be seen to the left. |
