The Flying Scotsman is being run on the NYM railway over the next two weeks and all tickets have been sold. The opportunity to see this magnificent steam train running will be rare . Therefore I have put a 5 + mile walk together in mid week with opportunity to see it pass in both directions. Start time 10-30. instead of 10, to fit in with seeing the train. Meet at GR 85190 / 02830 which is a small C/P at the junction of the road down to Goathland and the small road to Beck Hole where the road crosses the Whinstone Ridge Quarry. We should be able to pick a nice spot for our usual break and see the chuffing of steam and smoke as he roars past. Wonderful nostalgia for the oldies who remember steam trains, and excitement for those who never did. For a preview of what you may see , there is a programme on Monday BBC 4 at 8-30 entitled "The return of the Flying Scotsman" You will be enthralled. See you there, Les and Margie A.
