PRE-WALK INFO: (If supplied) Walk leader's description of start point/general information about route.

My walk this Wednesday is from Cayton Bay. Please excuse this message coming rather late, but I have been attempting to clarify a certain matter. Sheena O'Connell thoughtfully contacted me after reading of some cars being ticketed whilst parked on the old A165 just down from Osgodby. This old road has become very popular as a parking area and this was the first I had heard of anyone receiving a ticket. I contacted Parking Services at the Town Hall and there are in fact still double yellow lines in a couple of parts of the road and these remain "official". I asked about where we can park, so instructions as follow.

Coming from Scarborough and passing Hull Uni campus on Filey Rd, stay on the new road. Go straight on at Osgodby Roundabout. The names are shown at the top of the large road signs. Cayton Bay R'bt is next. Turn left at the r'bt, then follow right on the old road. You only go a short way, past the old former shop and park on the left. Do not go as far as the turn into the surfing centre. I am told we are safe there....

The walk is around 10miles-if any of our members who normally do the shorter Wednesday walks wish to join us then cut the walk short, please do. Being a local walk, there are a couple of ways of doing this. Just contact me on 586434 and I can explain the route. (It would obviously be the responsibility of those people to work out their preferred route back, but an experienced leader would do this easily).
