This walk takes place on the first day after the clocks go back, so make sure you arrive at the new 10am!
The car park is about half a mile east of Leavening. Approaching along the A166 from York or the coast, take the turn off for the Robert Fuller Gallery at the top of Garrowby Hill. Follow the signs for Malton and then the signs for Leavening. When you reach a T junction turn right for Thixendale and Birdsall. (I hope to be at this T junction to direct you to the car park.) The car park is almost immediately on the right among trees. Mind the goal posts as you drive in.
This is a gentle walk with only one hill to climb and superb views.
