Footpath number 30.43/207 is a short path of about 300 metres which runs from from a bridleway just east of Whitby Laithes Farm, Hawsker to join the Cleveland Way. It's a well used path, which provided a convenient link between Hawsker and the cliff top path. Although passable, brambles had grown across it to such an extent that it was only a foot wide in places and, unfortunately, thick brambles are impervious to strimmers. There was also a stile in need of repair. Yesterday, six group members joined Senior Ranger Bernie McLinden to clear the brambles and repair the stile. We did a great job on the brambles, but unfortunately there was insufficient time to repair the stile.
