Wednesday 18th December, Working Party at Darnholme

The group's new working party organiser, Ray Johnson, mustered 5 members to travel to Darnholme to complete a task set by Ranger Beth Ghest. As usual, the party was transported there and back by Jim Horlock.

Our task concerned a footpath which goes NE from Darnholm for a few hundred yards before swinging North to link with another footpath on the moor. The legal line of the path should be in an ancient holloway, which had become so overgrown with gorse and other shrubs that it was impassable. Walkers had therefore been walking on the bank to the East of the holloway, which was becoming dangerous, as it was on a steep edge and was becoming very slippy.

Beth therefore wanted to reinstate the path onto the legal line in the holloway, which seemed a daunting task. However  the group got stuck in and it was amazing how they transformed it.
