Wednesday 20th May, Working Party at Darnholm , led by Ray Johnson |
|
Six members joined NYMNP ranger Beth Ghest at Darnholm. The task was to clear overgrowth from the steps on the steep path up to Hazel Hill Farm and replace rotten ones. The lowest flight of steps had to be refilled with stone. The second flight was so overgrown with gorse that it was invisible, so , over the years walkers had created a second path to the side. The gorse was hacked away and eventually the paths were exposed and made fit for purpose. The party then moved up to the higher flights of steps and replaced five that were rotten and dangerous. By the end of the day, the party were very pleased with what they'd achieved. |
